Bess's [Failed] Kitchen Adventures: File #873
So apparently, chocolate burns. Who knew?

I was TRYING to make muddy buddies (trying being the key word), but I used the stove to melt the chocolate, and...uh, it didn't turn out so good >.< Guess I'll use the microwave next time...

This is why it's generally a good idea for me to stay AWAY from kitchens. *sigh*

However, since I'm such an expert at screwing things up, I've also become an expert at covering up the evidence. I soaked all the pans, got all the burned, dried chocolate (ugh) off the spoons and such, and stored the lumpy, sticky brown mess itself in a tupperware container, which I put in the back of the fridge. (I feel bad wasting so much chocolate, you know? And I dunno, maybe Mom has some use for it for baking, or something...Plus, I find it's always best to try and put off her finding out until long after the fact, i.e. whenever she next decides to clean out the fridge XD)

Luckily, as soon as I finished cleaning up, what do I find on the counter? Leftover muddy buddies mom made last night XD (Which tells you how clean our kitchen is >.>) So, the good news is that I still got my muddy buddies! ^^

Anyway, I know I never update, but, uh...what else is new? Also, some people have noticed that I like, never comment--I'm sorry, but it's just gotten to the point where I do not have the time to keep up with my flist anymore*. HOWEVER, I still wanna keep talking to ya'll ("ya'll"? WTF, Bess? XD), so PLEASE feel free to IM me ^^ I'm online more often than not with LadyBessyboo, but I stay invisible, so if you ever feel like IMing me, just try it, even if it says I'm offline, and it may or may not work. If you don't get a reply, then I'm probably not on.

Yeah, I'm going to go watch a movie and enjoy my muddy buddies now. Stay cool, purple-eyed creatures!

*VCers--I try to remember to check the community on a fairly regular basis, so if you've got something that you me to be sure and see, put it there. And come on people, keep updating! The community's, like, DED XD

*raises hand*  I did!  ...Do I get a gold star? (BAHAHA I'm mean.)

Hrmm... you might be able to re-melt the chocolate.  In case you didn't already find out from someone else though, the proper way to melt chocolate is to boil water in a pan, with the chocolate in a separate container suspended above the hot water.  I'm not sure what this helps, but apparently, it's magic.

I love that you used that icon. Hee.

I don't post to V_C because (a) I just came back, (b) I don't have anything uniquely funny to add that only V_C people will get, so I just post to my own journal as usual, and (c) I probably never will, lol. Woe.

Ahhh...yeah, I vaguely remember that now. Vaguely. XD Obviously, cooking is NOT something I have any sort of attention span for.

It's probably got something to do with steam vs. direct heat. Like, how vegetables turn out totally different when you steam them from when you fry or grill them? I dunno, it seems like that's what it would be. *is scientific-like*

See, and that's why I saved it for my mom in the fridge. She always seems to be able to do some sort of magic baking voodoo or the like, because she's actually managed to salvage a surprising number of my, er, experiments >.< She's like, the baking genius of our neighborhood XD I live on one of those blocks that's like, stuck in the fifties or something; at least half of the mothers on the block don't work, the average number of kids per household is probably around like 4 or 5, and cats, dogs, and little kids are always running around outside playing. I'm told by adults who visit that it's "charming". I find it utterly oppressive. I mean, the Goetzes and Stangers STILL don't even own a MICROWAVE, for christ's sake! Do *you* even KNOW two people who don't own a MICROWAVE?!?! Let alone two people on your BLOCK?!!?!

*ahem* Eheh. Yeaaah, sorry, went into mini-rant mode there XD I forgot what my original point of that paragraph was. I think it had something to do with other ladies on the block coming to her for baking advice, but I'm not entirely sure, LOLE

I really ought to get some sleep XD

microwaves are not good for your body because of the radiation stuff that cooks your food and gives you problems when you are forty years old with two children, no money, and a husband that beats you.

It's somthing like that...

LMFAO OMG YOU ACTUALLY GAVE ME A GOLD STAR. YOU WIN AT LIFE. ♥

Yeah, that sounds about right -- the steam v. direct heat thing.  I probably could have figured that out, but it was about 4:00am when I commented, and that's around the hour that I get really stupid, lol.  Just before bed.

...Wow, that does sound like a 50s timewarp!  No, you know what it sounds like?  My mom's stories about growing up (yes, in the 50s), but back in Ohio on the farm. LMAO.  And if you're like me, I am so sorry about all the children. *shudder*

LMAO, thank you XD

LJing all night = bad idea, but we do it anyway >.>

Hah, I know, right?! Thank you for your sympathies; however, the children still [unfortunately] are there.

I cannot WAIT to get to college.

I don't know how many people on my block have microwaves... I know only two households and I don't think it would be wise to call either of them up and aske if they have mocrowaves.

Bessie, Bessie, Bessie! See this is why you come into the computer room, and get me to make the muddie buddies for you!

I was up 'till four frickin AM! I doubt I wasn't up late enough for you, so next time-just let me do the cooking. Beacause we all know you're Kiristen Cohen pre-rehab in the kitchen. Seriously. It pains me to watch you cook. It's like that one time you tried to make easy mac and forgot to put the water in with the maceroni?

Oi.

Yeah, mom and I set aside half the bag of muddie buddies for you beacause you were asleep when we ate them (Mom and I watched Sex and The City and ate muddie buddies while you slept) and then we Watched That 70's Show and dragged you up to bed.

YAY FOR UPDATING! It makes me love you even more!

I have never liked children, even when I was one of them.
